This document outlines the rationale for the creation of the RHMi and outlines what visitors should and should not expect from the website. Please note that the document has been reviewed by our legal advisors.
The Reproductive Health Market Intelligence (RHMi+) portal is developed and maintained by i+solutions, as part of the project ‘Making Sexual and Reproductive Health Services work for the Next Generation (SRH Next)’, jointly implemented by Cordaid, i+solutions, Health Development and Performance (HDP), and Swiss Tropical Institute of Public Health.
The RHMi+ portal is a comprehensive web-based portal containing market and product-related information on a range of reproductive health (RH) commodities. It is designed to:
- Provide user-friendly product information to inform selection and introduction of RH commodities into national health systems;
- Assist national RH programs in procurement and supply chain management decisions by offering an overview of supplier sources, indicative prices and regulatory status;
- Complement global initiatives aimed to improve market intelligence and total market interventions that support the quality, availability, equity and choice of RH products at country level.
The basis for the RHMi+ are the RH product factsheets that have been developed by i+solutions in 2013. For the purpose of the SRH Next project, it was decided that i+solutions would select key reproductive health commodities, around which i+solutions’ activities would be focused on, especially in market dynamics. Marketplace and product expertise is essential for short-term decision making on procurement and distribution, allowing one to go beyond simple purchasing considerations to the much more important fit-for-use and best-value advice. The provision of the fact sheets contributes to market intelligence on a product level and can be used to provide a solid basis for discussions related to market dynamics activities so as to optimise price, quality, and sustainable supply consistent with applicable quality assurance requirements both on a global and on a local level.
The starting basis for the portal have been the RH product factsheets. All the product and market information presented on the portal (in the factsheets as well as otherwise) is mined from publicly available websites of international agencies such as WHO, other UN agencies, regulatory agencies and manufacturers. Where feasible, information related to specific product brands is obtained directly from the respective manufacturer. RHMi+ has sought and will continuously seek to provide information from verified sources and aims to prevent the sharing of inaccurate information. RHMi+ will continuously monitor the accurateness of the information provided given the market and product developments but cannot make representations or warranties that the information provided is at all times up-to-date with the latest developments. Furthermore, as RHMi+ is dependent on third parties (as described above) to provide information, RHMi+ cannot make representations or warranties that the information provided is at all times complete and accurate.
Unless specified otherwise, copyright of images presented on the portal belong to i+solutions.
The Review Process
As RHMi+ seeks to gather, consolidate and present relevant product and market-related information for a range of RH commodities, we are dependent on the commitment of the full range of those involved in the procurement and supply of female condoms to engage with RHMi+ and also use the site as a platform to share critical information with their fellow stakeholders. These include manufacturers, suppliers, procurers, donors and other organisations.
We will inform all relevant stakeholders about the portal and invite them to review and provide feedback to correct any inaccuracies and also to suggest improvements. Once launched, RHMi+ intends the review process to be ongoing and will encourage stakeholders to maintain open dialogue with us to ensure the most up-to-date and most accurate information is shared at any given time.
Impartiality and Independence
RHMi+ does not seek to promote any particular product, rather seeks to enhance market knowledge of visitors, particularly those involved in the procurement of RH commodities. As mentioned above, the portal’s intention is to contribute to a market in which a variety of quality-assured RH commodities are available for all. Where possible, RHMi+ strives to provide a similar level of information for all products and companies, however in order to achieve this we are dependent on available genuinely public information and the information provided by the manufacturers themselves.
In the event that information regarding your organisation or product may be incorrect, please contact us. In the event such concerns are in the opinion of RHMi+ to be found reasonable and justified, RHMi+ will agree to remove the content in question either permanently or until it can be replaced with amended content which is acceptable to RHMi+ and your organisation.
RHMi+ is a guidance and reference tool, especially for those involved in the procurement and supply of RH commodities. All the information presented on the portal is mined from publicly available sources. The prices presented are indicative prices obtained from publicly available sources and should be used as a reference only. It is crucial that any purchaser of any of the products verifies prices and availability as well as quality status directly with the manufacturer/supplier before procurement. RHMi+ uses its best endeavours to ensure the accuracy of information presented on the portal but RHMi+ makes no representations or warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness or fitness of the respective information for a particular purpose. The information provided may be changed by the organisation which provides it from time to time, after which RHMi+ shall use best endeavours to reflect this changed information on its platform. Responsibility for any and all decisions on purchase of a product, whether represented on the RHMi+ platform or not, rests solely with the respective user. RHMi+ intends to unlock relevant information in order to enable users to make an informed decision and has no commercial interest in the sale of specific products. Inclusion of a product on this platform does not indicate RHMi+ or i+solutions encourages purchase or use the product. Likewise, exclusion of a product from this platform does not indicate RHMi+ or i+solutions discourages purchase or use of the product. Finally, as mentioned above, RHMi+ is a market intelligence tool targeted at those involved in supply chain management; RHMi+ is explicitly not designed as a tool for consumers or potential users to determine which product to use or which one best suits their needs.
i+solutions has its registered office in Woerden, The Netherlands. Use of the RHMi+ platform is governed by the laws of the Netherlands.
