Implant Price reduction agreement

The 2012 London Summit on Family Planning signified an important turning point in the world of family planning marked by several commitments to meet the family planning needs of women in the world’s poorest countries by 2020. In May 2013, Merck announced an agreement to reduce the cost of IMPLANON® and its next-generation implant, IMPLANON NXT® (etonogestrel), by approximately 50 percent to $ 8.50 per unit for the next six years in the targeted poorest eligible countries of focus for the reproductive health community. These countries are listed below. Note: IMPLANON and IMPLANON NXT are only available in those countries in which regulatory approval has been acheived or a waiver of importation has been signed.
